Yogyakarta, May 22nd 2026 – The Secretariat of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) themed “Mapping the Dynamics of Public Relations Activity Management in Faculties/Work Units within UGM.” The event was held in Multimedia Room 1, 3rd Floor, UGM Central Office Building.

The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM), represented by Siti Muyasaroh, Ayu Putri Utami, and Dewi F. Ningrum actively participated in the FGD as a support for strengthening public relations, particularly within the Graduate School and the university as a whole.

The FGD was officially opened by Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, S.H., LL.M., Secretary of the University. He explained that the purpose of the FGD was to observe work patterns and enhance connectivity among various units within UGM, including faculties, schools, and directorates. He emphasized that one of the key underlying points was the strategic effort to strengthen networking and foster a sense of crisis awareness among all parties in responding to emergency situations.

Syaifa Tania, S.I.P., M.A., a lecturer from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM, served as the speaker for the FGD and delivered a presentation titled “Guidelines for Implementing FGDs on the Governance of Public Relations Functions within UGM.” Throughout the session, participants actively shared insights regarding public relations governance and the challenges faced within their respective units.

One of the important topics discussed during the FGD session was the standardization of public relations practices. Indicators of successful public relations performance are related to the Performance Achievement Targets (TCK) established by the university, including coverage of SDGs-related news, online learning accessible to the public with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and other online media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube for information sharing.

The challenges and the performance encountered targets of public relations functions, were recognized as important issues that require collective follow-up action. This FGD activity is expected to provide a space for all units within UGM to share perspectives and appreciation regarding the dynamics of public relations governance in their respective units.
