The event featured distinguished speakers from Chiba University: Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, Ph.D., and Prof. Tomoaki Tanaka, M.D., Ph.D.

The event began with an opening speech by Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School, who expressed her hopes that this collaboration would bring positive impacts for both institutions. The Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Prof. Muhammad Kamal, S.Si., M.GIS., Ph.D., also delivered an enthusiastic address, showing strong support for the guest lecture.

The guest lecture, themed “Remote Sensing for Environmental Science,” was attended by students from the Environmental Management Master Program, the Environmental Science Master Program, as well as undergraduate students from the Cartography and Remote Sensing Study Program, whose academic focus closely relates to the topic discussed.

One of the key presentations delivered by Prof. Josaphat discussed the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in remote sensing technology for the establishment of an interdisciplinary disaster mitigation center. The initiative aimed to integrate advanced science and technology to support sustainable development.

This activity is expected to have lasting impact on various stakeholders by fostering knowledge sharing and advancing scientific discoveries in the field of remote sensing. Furthermore, the collaboration established between the two institutions is anticipated to serve as a bridge for mutual exchange of insights and references regarding technological developments and their applications for sustainable environmental management.
