Yogyakarta, August 5th 2025 – The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Environmental Science Doctoral Program and the Geo-Information for Disaster Management Master Program, initiated a collaboration with National Taiwan University (NTU). The meeting between the two institutions took place at the Center for Land Resource Studies, UGM.
UGM Graduate School was represented by Prof. Dr. Eko Haryono, Chief of the Environmental Science Doctoral Program, and Prof. Junun Sartohadi, Chief of the Geo-Information for Disaster Management Master Program. NTU was represented by Prof. Jr-Chuan Huang and Dr. Ci-Jian Yang.
Among the proposed areas of collaboration discussed were joint supervision, student exchange, guest lectures, joint conferences, summer schools, and international field work programs in both Taiwan and Indonesia. These initiatives are expected to bring significant mutual benefits, particularly in expanding academic networks and advancing scientific knowledge.
This meeting is expected to mark a strong starting point for both parties to broaden their collaboration, especially in the fields of education and research. Both institutions agreed to follow up the discussion by drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as the formal foundation of the partnership.
