Gunungkidul, July 27th 2025 — In an effort to strengthen ties among the academic community and balance life in this world and the afterlife, the UGM Graduate School, through the Employee Family Gathering Forum (Forsilap), held its regular religious study group on Sunday, July 27th 2025, at Nglanggeran Eco Village, Karangasem, Patuk, Gunungkidul.

This activity featured Dr. H. Tohari S.Sy., S.Th., M.S.I., Head of the Darul Qur’an Imam Asy-Syafi’i Islamic Boarding School in Kulon Progo, as the speaker. In his preaching, Dr. Tohari emphasized the importance of instilling the values of sincerity and earnestness in worship, work, and building a blessed family.

The preaching started at 9:30 a.m. WIB with an opening ceremony, recitation of verses from the Quran, and remarks from the host, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., and the Chief of Forsilap, Susanto, S.T., M.Sc., attended the event. Lecturers, administrative staff, and retired employees of the UGM Graduate School, along with their families, were also present.

The Dean of the UGM Graduate School, Prof. Titi Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her remarks, stated that this religious study activity is a form of the institution’s effort to build a balance between worldly activities, spiritual needs, and religious values. “As academics, we need to continuously maintain harmony between work activities and spiritual values. This is not just a routine agenda, but a space to balance this world, the afterlife, and religion,” she emphasized.

The Forsilap study, beyond serving as a forum for spiritual strengthening, also serves as a means of strengthening intimacy and togetherness between lecturers and administrative staff. A friendly atmosphere was felt throughout the event, especially during the door prize distribution and the social gathering at the end.

This activity, with the cool and beautiful natural backdrop of the Gunungkidul hills, is expected to generate positive energy that strengthens the work ethic and togetherness within the UGM Graduate School.
