
The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) actively participated in a training session titled “Optimizing the Power of Photography for Institutional Public Relations,” organized by UGM. The event was held on Wednesday 19th Feb 2025 at Multimedia Room 1, 3rd Floor, North Wing, UGM Central Building The event was featuring Dwi Prasetyo Budi Santosa, S.S., a photographer from National Geographic Indonesia, as the keynote speaker.
This training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding and skills in photography, particularly for public relations staff and academic personnel in supporting institutional publication and documentation. Dwi Prasetyo Budi Santosa, in his presentation, emphasized that photography is not just about capturing images but also about conveying stories visually in a more engaging and communicative manner.
Participants learned various essential aspects, such as photo composition, lighting, camera angles, and editing techniques to produce more professional visuals. Additionally, the training discussed photography strategies in the context of public relations, including how to build an institution’s image through high-quality visual content.
The session was highly interactive, allowing participants not only to gain theoretical knowledge but also to engage in hands-on practice in capturing images using a journalistic approach. Discussions and Q&A sessions further enriched participants’ insights into photography as an effective communication tool in shaping an institution’s reputation.
SPs UGM staff are expected to apply their photography skills to support public relations activities with this training, whether in documenting academic events or disseminating visually engaging and professional information.
