Yogyakarta (02/11), Prof. Dr. Todung Mulya Lubis, S.H., LL.M, was held as a resource person on the discussion agenda of the Master of Leadership and Policy Innovation Master Program at the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University (MKIK SPs UGM). This activity took place in Room 210 of the Masri Singarimbun Building.

Prof. Todung is a lecturer at the MKIK Study Program who is a former Indonesian ambassador to Norway, therefore his knowledge and experience regarding policy innovation is very comprehensive. This activity was attended by MKIK Master Program students with a discussion of a topic that currently never stops being discussed, namely social assistance.

The topic of discussion was entitled “Perlinsos and Social Assistance: Poverty Mitigation or the Beginning of a Welfare State”, Prof Todung conveyed the term welfare benefits which consist of 3 aspects, namely education, health, and work and retirement. Indonesian society is faced with a phenomenon currently occurring in Indonesia, especially regarding the equal distribution of social assistance.

Perlinsos is a strategic government program, namely Social Protection, to protect communities from various vulnerabilities. These matters were made by various government policies and programs that addressed educational and cultural aspects, such as the Smart Indonesia Program. The portrait of education in 2024 depicts the quality of human resources, especially the age of the workforce, so that the quality of the population must continue to be supported to create a competitive generation.

Students who took part in this discussion interacted actively with the resource persons to provide critical opinions on current issues. Collaboration between the government and society is needed to jointly create a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia, especially through education.
