Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Graduate School (SPs UGM) celebrated its 41st anniversary on Thursday, October 17th 2024, at the 5th Floor Auditorium of SPs UGM. UGM Rector, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K)., Ph.D., in her opening remarks, expressed her appreciation and warmly welcomed SPs UGM’s efforts in driving transformation and national sovereignty.

In her speech, Prof. Ova highlighted that Indonesia is currently facing global megatrends leading up to 2045, and SPs UGM has played a vital role in supporting the nation’s development. She emphasized the importance of transformation as the key to responding to changes, advancements, and global challenges. “The nation is required to adapt and innovate to avoid being left behind by the rapid pace of progress,” she added.

Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her annual report, shared various achievements from the past year. These include program accreditation, national and international accomplishments, as well as the development of human resources and assets to support the implementation of the university’s three pillars (Tridharma). Prof. Siti Malkhamah also highlighted the academic and non-academic achievements of students, further strengthening SPs UGM’s role on the international stage, in line with its mission.

Prof. Siti Malkhamah expressed particular pride in the achievements of three SPs UGM programs: the Religious and Cross-Cultural Studies Master Program, Inter-Religious Studies Doctoral Program (a consortium between SPs UGM, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and Duta Wacana Christian University), and the Islamic Economics and Halal Industry Doctoral Program. These programs has contributed to UGM’s ranking in The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR) 2024 in the subject of Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies, where UGM ranked #51-100 globally and 1st in Indonesia.

In conclusion, the Dean of SPs UGM extended heartfelt gratitude to the entire academic community of SPs UGM, supporting faculties, and partners for their contributions in achieving these milestones. “The strong collaboration and exceptional support have led SPs UGM to realize its vision and mission, making a tangible contribution to society and the nation,” said Prof. Siti Malkhamah.
