In August 2024, the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Master Program (PSPSR) at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) launched its community service initiative titled Kolaborasa #2 in Desa Madurejo, Prambanan District, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta. This event, organized by the PSPSR SPs UGM students batch 2023, featured a variety of activities involving the local community in cultural and artistic preservation.

The series of events began with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on August 4th 2024, themed “Historiography of Local Knowledge Concerning the Kenteng Morobangun Site.” The discussion, led by Topan Bagus Permadi, S.Sn., a student of PSPSR SPs UGM, included prominent speakers such as Dr. Rudy Wiratama, S.I.P., M.A., a lecturer in Javanese Language, Literature, and Culture at UGM and an alumnus of PSPSR SPs UGM, alongside local elders Kyai Harjo Sudarmo from Kenteng and Ky. Amad Damiri from Morobangun. The FGD aimed to explore and understand local knowledge about the historical sites in the area.

The workshop on dance and music was conducted from August 11th to 17th 2024, encouraging local residents to participate and learn about performance arts. The results of these workshops were then showcased in a cultural parade on August 18th 2024, as part of the celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day.

Additionally, on August 16th 2024, the event featured a site cleaning and Umbul Donga (a collective prayer) followed by a Jathilan performance. In the evening, a Tirakatan and Sarasehan were held with the theme “Reaktualisasi dan Konservasi Situs Kenteng dalam Bingkai Cerita Panji (Reactivation and Conservation of the Kenteng Site within the Framework of Panji Stories),” featuring speakers Drs. KH. Muhammad Jadul Maula, the caretaker of Pesantren Budaya Kaliopak Yogyakarta, and Dwi Pradnyawan, S.S., M.A., a lecturer in Archaeology at UGM and a doctoral student at PSPSR UGM. The following day, August 17th 2024, a batik sasirangan workshop was conducted for members of the PKK (Family Welfare Program) in Desa Madurejo, as part of efforts to empower the local community.

These community service activities organized by PSPSR SPs UGM students are also part of UGM’s broader commitment to sustainable development goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals).
