Yogyakarta, 11th November 2025 — The Lead-teracy Talk session served as an inspiring part of Leadership Day 2025, organized by the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) through the Leadership and Policy Innovation (MDKIK) Master’s and Doctoral Program in collaboration with the Alumni Association of the Leadership and Policy Innovation Program (Kapimgama).
Two alumni of the Doctoral Program in Leadership and Policy Innovation (DKIK), in this session, launched their books: Dr. Ir. Lasarus Bambang S, General Manager of the Business Development Department at PT Adhi Karya, and Dr. Tommy Andri Wardhana, Founder of PT Sinergi Cakra Nusantara, PT Ecoled Indonesia, and PT KAIA Agro Semesta.
The moderator opened the discussion by asking about the values and unique aspects of their books. Responding to this, Dr. Ir. Lasarus Bambang, with his book “Ijarah Muntahiyah Bittamlik (IMBT): Inovasi Pembiayaan Syariah Proyek Infrastruktur” (Ijarah Muntahiyah Bittamlik (IMBT): Sharia Financing Innovation for Infrastructure Projects), explained his work is based on research on sustainable infrastructure financing aligning with sharia principles and the current context of national development. “This book is a reference based on my dissertation research in the Leadership and Policy Innovation Program,” he said.
He emphasized that the main motivation behind writing the book was the growing infrastructure development in Indonesia amid limited financing options.
“Infrastructure development is boundless, but funding is limited. Therefore, we need flexible and innovative financing schemes,” he noted, highlighting Ijarah Muntahiyah Bittamlik (IMBT) as a potential sharia-based financing model for infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tommy Andri Wardhana introduced his book titled “Kemitraan Pasif Franchise untuk Kemajuan Koperasi Indonesia” (Passive Franchise Partnership for the Advancement of Indonesian Cooperatives), which explores the concept of active-passive franchise partnerships — a business collaboration model balancing the roles of brand owners and operational partners.
“This book discusses active-passive franchise partnerships,” he stated briefly, emphasizing that it presents comprehensive technical aspects to help readers understand the mechanisms and implementation of mutually beneficial franchise partnerships.
Both authors concluded the session with the hope that their works could serve as practical references for policymakers and industry practitioners in developing sustainable and collaborative development models.
The Lead-teracy Talk carried a strong message: academic knowledge should not remain confined to classrooms — it must come alive with real-world practice to address the nation’s challenges. Through this activity, UGM Graduate School, particularly the MDKIK Program, reaffirmed its role as a hub for transformative ideas — a place where research becomes a source of inspiration and solutions for equitable and sustainable development in Indonesia.
