Yogyakarta, 8th November 2025 — Media and Cultural Studies Program, The Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a Writing Workshop as part of its 4th Lustrum series, focusing on the preparation of the forthcoming book Digital Lifestyle in Indonesia. The workshop took place on Saturday, 8th November 2025, from 09.30 to 12.00 WIB at the Mangkubumi Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Harper Malioboro Hotel, Yogyakarta, featuring Prof. Dr. Mike Featherstone and Dr. Tomoko Tamari from Goldsmiths, University of London.

The session was opened by Dr. Budiawan, who presented the technical arrangements and curatorial notes regarding the 13 selected authors chosen for the quality and relevance of their submissions. He also outlined the structure of the book, which is divided into two main parts.

The first session featured six authors contributing to the opening section of the book. Each presented their research in a three-minute overview before receiving comments. Prof. Featherstone and Dr. Tamari provided academic and editorial feedback to sharpen arguments, clarify focus, and standardize terminology and writing style across chapters.

After all first-part presentations, both reviewers offered general reflections before moving to the second group of authors. The second session followed a similar format—short presentations followed by detailed commentary. Following the lunch break, Prof. Featherstone delivered general comments emphasizing the importance of maintaining the overarching theme of “digital lifestyle” across chapters, ensuring consistent citation practices, and preserving narrative coherence.

In the final session, participants were given the opportunity to ask questions regarding theoretical approaches, case studies, and manuscript revision deadlines. Dr. Ratna Noviani provided closing remarks outlining publication plans and editorial follow-up steps. Both Prof. Featherstone and Dr. Tamari expressed their willingness to contribute forewords to the book.

Through this workshop, the writing team established a shared framework to strengthen the coherence of the book’s content, ensure consistency in writing style, and accelerate the revision process toward the publication of Digital Lifestyle in Indonesia.
