The Chief of the Biomedical Engineering Master Program and several students conducted a Field Visit to PT. Mega Andalan Kalasan (MAK) on Friday, October 18th 2024.
The group, consisting of 16 members, was led by the Chief of the Biomedical Engineering Master Program, Ir. Rini Dharmastiti, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng, and was welcomed by Ir. H. Susanto Sudiro, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice President Internal of PT. MAK, accompanied by Gunawan, one of the staff members at PT. MAK in the Learning Building on the 2nd floor of PT. MAK.
The Chief of the Biomedical Engineering Master Program stated that the purpose of the visit was to gain knowledge about the production process at PT. MAK, understand the types of products produced, and study best practices in management and innovation within the company.
Regarding the benefits of this visit, she noted, “This visit aims is enhancing students’ understanding of the industry and the production processes of medical equipment in the form of furniture for hospitals. It also aims to build relationships with professionals in the industry and gain new ideas to be applied in their studies or careers.”
During the visit, students participated in a presentation from PT. MAK covering the company profile, history, product development, production processes, standards used, product testing, followed by an interactive session with management and staff of PT. MAK, and a factory tour to observe the production process from raw materials to finished products.
The Chief of the Biomedical Engineering Master Program also said, “The visit to PT. MAK provided valuable experience for both students and lecturers. The knowledge and insights gained are very beneficial for the students’ personal development in the field of medical equipment business.”
This Field Visit is part of the Technoentrepreneur course offered in the Biomedical Engineering Master’s Program at the Graduate School of UGM for the 2024/2025 at odd semester.
This activity also aligns with the implementation of SDGs Number 4 on Quality Education, Number 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Number 17 on Partnerships to Achieve Goals.
