Since 2017, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has been developing a risk management system in line with the mandate of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 66 of 2015 on Risk Management. This initiative is a testament to UGM’s commitment to establish its own risk management framework, emphasizing the importance of sustainability in education and development-oriented policies. This was conveyed by UGM’s Rector, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, Ph.D., in her video address during the UGM Risk Management Information System Workshop on Thursday (15/08) at Multimedia Room 1, KPTU UGM Building, 3rd Floor North Wing.
“As an organization with autonomy in managing the implementation of the tridharma, UGM is committed to build a robust risk management system. This aligns with UGM steps towards Good University Governance. We have developed a risk management system in accordance with the mandate of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s regulation to realize good university governance, which is flexible, dynamic, adaptive, agile, accountable, effective, and transparent. I highly appreciate the leaders and facilitators of each work unit for organizing this risk management workshop,” said Prof. Ova.
This workshop is a continuation of previous risk management workshops. Each work unit at UGM has appointed leaders and facilitators to serve as risk management organs. The speakers at this event were consultants from RWI Consulting-PT Jagad Prima Mandiri. The speakers provided workshop participants with an understanding of the implementation of the risk management system developed by UGM. Participants were also invited to practice using the information system directly.
“Creating risk management does not mean highlighting weaknesses in the work units but rather serves as a control measure to prevent risks from occurring and as an early warning system in the implementation of activities as early as possible. The current digital developments support the implementation of risk management,” concluded Prof. Ova. It is hoped that after the workshop, participants can implement the risk management system within their respective work units.
