Yogyakarta, 20th June 2025 – The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held a follow-up Curriculum Workshop as a continuation of the curriculum finalization workshop conducted earlier on 11th – 12th June 2025. The event took place at the 5th Floor Auditorium of the Graduate School building and was attended by the leaders, faculty members, and study program managers from various academic fields.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., who emphasized the urgency of curriculum reform as an adaptive measure in response to national academic policies and global demands. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the curriculum alignment with the Ministry of Education Regulation No. 53/2023 and UGM Rector Regulation No. 23/2024, while also responding to international accreditation standards such as ASIIN, FIBAA, and ACQUIN.

This workshop specifically focused on the revision of structure and academic credit load for thesis and dissertation components, at both the master and doctoral levels. A key point of discussion was the integration of scientific publication requirements as part of the graduation criteria.

In the main session, all study programs and concentrations presented their revised curricula, particularly the breakdown of final project components in accordance with the tables of the Graduate School (Table 3 for Master Programs and Table 4 for Doctoral Programs). Presentations were delivered consecutively from 09:15 to 11:20 AM, involving more than twenty programs across a wide range of disciplines.

This curriculum workshop marks a strategic step toward ensuring the quality and global competitiveness of UGM graduate education. Emphasis was placed on curriculum design that not only supports academic achievement but also cultivates research competence, critical thinking, and real-world engagement, particularly in contributing to sustainable development aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through this workshop, SPs UGM reaffirms its commitment to continuous improvement in academic governance and the provision of high-quality, innovative, and future-relevant higher education.
