The Tourism Studies Program of the Graduate School (SPs) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received an academic visit from 4th semester students of the Tourism Destination Program, Department of Tourism Communication Languages, from Jember State Polytechnic (Politeknik Negeri Jember) as part of their Integrated Field Practice (PLT) on Wednesday, May 7th.
The group, consisting of 65 people, included 4 lecturers and 61 students. They were welcomed by the Chief of the Tourism Studies Master Program (Magister Kajian Pariwisata/MKP), Dr. rer. pol. Dyah Widiyastuti, S.T., M.C.P., and Dr. Priyaji Agung Pambudi, representing SPs UGM, in the Auditorium Room on the 5th floor of the SPs UGM building, along with the program’s staff.
In her remarks, Dr. Dyah, as she is commonly known, expressed her appreciation for the visit and presented an overview of the Tourism Program and its key strengths. The event continued with a presentation about the programs and research activities within the Tourism Program at SPs UGM.
Dr. Dyah also introduced other academic programs at the Graduate School and shared examples of thesis topics that prospective students might pursue in the Master in Tourism Studies.
Meanwhile, Dr. Priyaji, known as Pak Aji, discussed career prospects for graduates of the Tourism Program.
The students from Jember State Polytechnic showed great enthusiasm during the Q&A session, which covered current issues in tourism, opportunities for further studies, and potential academic collaboration in the future.
The event concluded with a group photo session between the visiting students and lecturers from Jember State Polytechnic and the faculty and administrators of the Tourism Program at SPs UGM as a memento and a step in strengthening academic networks between institutions.
The visit is expected to broaden students’ insights into advanced tourism studies and foster opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions in the fields of education and tourism research.
This activity also aligns with the implementation of SDG Number 4 (Quality Education) and Number 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
