The Islamic Economics and Halal Industry Doctoral Program (PD PIIH) at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), as part of its efforts to support the timely completion of doctoral studies, held a research workshop titled “Systematic Literature Review Watase UAKE use for Research Development and Scientific Publication” on June 24th 2025, in Room 406, 4th Floor of the UGM Graduate School Building.
The workshop featured Dr. Lilik Wahyudi, S.E., M.Si., Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sebelas Maret, and the creator of the Watase UAKE platform, as the keynote speaker. In this intensive session, participants were guided in understanding the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach based on PRISMA and SPAR-4-SLR methods, as well as the use of AI-based technologies to automate the processes of literature identification, thematic analysis, and scientific article synthesis. The Watase UAKE platform was introduced as an innovative tool capable of accelerating systematic literature reviews, enhancing research efficiency, and strengthening the quality of scientific publications.
The workshop was met with enthusiasm by participants from various doctoral and master’s programs. One participant, Fatimah Zahra Nasution, a doctoral student in the Islamic Economics and Halal Industry program at UGM, said:
“This well-chosen training is highly beneficial and truly helps researchers, especially students at UGM Graduate School, in writing articles using the correct methodology and developing research across various study topics.”
Meanwhile, Nur Hasanah, a doctoral student in Management at the UGM Faculty of Economics and Business, added:
“This training is excellent. It turns out that with AI technology, the research process can be much faster, especially using the SLR method.”
Dr. Reni Rosari, M.B.A., Chief of the PD PIIH UGM, emphasized that the workshop is part of the program strategy to equip students with relevant, technology-based research skills. It is hoped that the dissertation process can proceed more effectively and efficiently, resulting in high-quality scientific work with this approach.
“The use of technology such as Watase UAKE is something we actively encourage as a strategic solution to help students complete their studies on time and stay academically competitive,” she stated.
This activity reflects the commitment of UGM Islamic Economics and Halal Industry Doctoral Program to provide real support for students to complete their studies in a time and high-quality manner by introducing technology-based Systematic Literature Review methods like Watase UAKE. The program aims to equip students with more effective and relevant research skills in line with current developments—producing impactful research that benefits the broader community.
This initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening research capacity and academic literacy among doctoral students, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the use of innovative technology to support evidence-based research.
