The Public Relations Team of UGM Graduate School Participates in SDGs Training of Trainers to Enhance News Quality

Yogyakarta, August 9th 2024 — The Public Relations Team of the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) participated in a Training of Trainers (ToT) focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event took place at the Tahir Auditorium, FKKMK UGM, and was attended by all faculties and schools at UGM. The UGM Graduate School PR Team was accompanied by the Head of the Graduate School Office (KKA SPs) and the Head of the Administration and Student Affairs Office, who fully supported this initiative to enhance human resource capacity in the field of news reporting. Ika Krisnadewi, S.Psi., M.Sc., KKA SPs, hopes that this activity will improve the quality of reporting related to institutional initiatives and achievements in the fields of education and global partnerships, supporting collaborative efforts to affirm UGM’s commitment to build the culture of transparency and accountability in its educational programs.

Sentagi Sesotya Utami, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Coordinator of University Reputation at the Quality Assurance and University Reputation Unit (SPMRU) UGM, in her presentation, stated that this training is a strategic step in strengthening the role of Public Relations as an information bridge for the institution and the public. She emphasized the importance of effective communication in promoting the SDGs and ensuring that the public is well-informed about the university’s contributions to sustainable development.

The training also highlighted the importance of global partnerships in achieving sustainable development. Participants were encouraged to explore collaborative opportunities with other institutions and organizations. Reinforcing the idea that collective efforts are crucial in addressing global challenges.

The Training of Trainers on SDGs was a significant moment for the Public Relations teams at UGM. The skills and knowledge gained from this training, are better prepared to be effective communicators, ensuring that the university’s efforts in education and sustainable development are recognized and celebrated.
