Yogyakarta (09/17) – Following the selection of Cadres for the Integrated Post for Non-Communicable Disease Development (Posbindu PTM), Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Center held technical training for the selected cadres. This training aims to equip the cadres with deeper skills in the prevention, early detection, and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The trainees included UGM employees who passed the selection, including three representatives from the Graduate School (SPs) UGM.
The training covered several topics such as techniques for measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI), and an introduction to risk factors for NCDs like hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. In addition to technical skills, the cadres were also trained to provide health education to the community, emphasizing the importance of healthy lifestyles as a preventive measure against NCDs.
Dr. techn. Khabib Mustofa, S.Si., M.Kom., Deputy Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources at SPs UGM, highlighted the importance of this training as part of the institution’s commitment to supporting the health and well-being of its staff. “This training provides crucial technical skills for the cadres, who will be at the forefront of preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases. This aligns with our efforts to create a healthy and productive work environment at UGM,” he explained.
The training included theoretical components and hands-on practice in the field, where participants conducted health check simulations among the cadres themselves. This method is expected to enhance the readiness of the cadres in carrying out their duties at Posbindu PTM more professionally.
Ika Krisnadewi, S.Psi., M.Sc., Chief of the SPs UGM Administration Office, emphasized that this training would have a positive impact on raising awareness and attention to health within the campus environment. “With the skills they acquire, Posbindu cadres are expected to make a tangible contribution to increase health awareness, both through education and effective preventive actions within UGM,” she stated.
Going forward, Posbindu cadres will actively participate in routine health check activities at UGM and support preventive efforts against NCDs in the campus environment and surrounding communities. This training is expected to strengthen health programs at UGM and serve as a good example for other institutions in maintaining employee health.
