Several staff members, including program chiefs, lecturers, NIDK (non-permanent) lecturers, and administrative personnel from the Graduate School (SPs) of Gadjah Mada University (UGM), attended the Syawalan event held in the 5th-floor auditorium of the SPs UGM building on April 17th 2025.

In this annual event, the Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., gave a speech in which she expressed apologies for any intentional or unintentional mistakes that may have occurred in interactions within the Graduate School environment.

The Dean also emphasized that the tradition of asking for forgiveness both physically and spiritually (mohon maaf lahir batin) is a uniquely Indonesian culture that should be preserved.

Regarding the budget efficiency efforts currently being encouraged by the government, the Dean urged all personnel at SPs to practice genuine efficiency—meaning organizing activities that are less costly but still aim for optimal outcomes.

On this occasion, Prof. Heddy Shri Ahimsa Putra delivered the Hikmah Syawalan (Syawalan Reflections) with the theme of Strengthening Brotherhood. He emphasized the awareness that God is always watching us, making it important not to engage in wrongdoing but rather to love fellow creations of Allah, with love for the sake of Allah Almighty.

In his sermon, Prof. Dr. Heddy Shri Ahimsa Putra, M.A., M.Phil., stated:
“Ihsan is the awareness that God is watching us. When we are truly aware that Allah sees us, we wouldn’t dare to do inappropriate things,” said Prof. Heddy.

Prof. Heddy also encouraged everyone to continue enhancing their ihsan until the next Ramadhan.

This event is also in line with the implementation of SDG Number 16, which promotes peace and strong institutions.
