The Population Doctoral Program in Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, continues to develop academic activities in support of the university Tri Dharma (three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service). One of these efforts is partnership exploration, carried out by Prof. Dr. Sri Rum Giyarsih, S.Si., M.Si., through a series of promotional roadshow visits to various schools and institutions.
Prof. Sri Rum conducted visits in early August 2025, with the following schedule:
- August 1st 2025 – D4 Program in Demography and Civil Registration, Vocational School, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta
- August 11th 2025 – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Sleman Regency
- August 13th 2025 – BPS of Sukoharjo Regency
- August 14th 2025 – BPS of Purworejo Regency
- August 15th 2025 – BPS of Kebumen Regency
These visits served as a strategic moment for the Population Doctoral Program to expand its network, particularly in the context of recruiting new doctoral students. The initiative also aims to foster new partnerships for research collaboration and community service programs.
Prof. Sri Rum, during the visits, also delivered an engaging presentation on the curriculum of the Population Doctoral Program, highlighting the two available pathways: by course and by research. The research track allows students to pursue their doctoral education without leaving their professional responsibilities at their respective institutions.
The parties, as a follow-up to this roadshow, involved are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a formal basis for future collaborations. This initiative anticipated bringing strategic benefits for both UGM and its partner institutions, particularly in the development of human resources, improvement of research quality, and broader and balanced community service impact.
