On Wednesday, August 14th, 2024, a significant meeting took place in the Leadership Conference Room of the Graduate School, marking an important milestone in the collaboration between the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) and the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) from Japan. The Dean of the Graduate School, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed great enthusiasm for this partnership, emphasizing Indonesia’s pivotal role in the field of education.
During the discussion, both institutions agreed to explore various collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing educational opportunities. One of the main focuses of this partnership is the establishment of a dual degree program for PhD candidates. In addition to the dual degree program, the collaboration will also include internship opportunities for master programs.
Another exciting aspect of this partnership is the introduction of joint classes. These classes will allow students from both institutions to learn together, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. By leveraging disaggregated data on student performance and engagement, the institutions can establish their teaching methods to better meet the needs of diverse learners, ultimately enhancing the educational experience.
The collaboration will also feature international bio-seminars, in which experts from both institutions will share their research findings and insights, not only promoting knowledge exchange but also encouraging joint research initiatives that address global challenges.The institutions aim to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with working together, particularly in the areas of quality education and global partnerships.
