Yogyakarta, March 11th 2026 — The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) expressed its pride in the achievement of its student who received an international award at the 2nd International Student Summit. The event was held on February 14th–15th, 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This accomplishment demonstrated the capacity of SPs UGM students to present research-based innovations competing at the global level.

The international scientific forum was organized by the Sentosa Foundation in collaboration with Insan USIM (Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia) and the World Associations of Young Scientists (WAYS), and was attended by students from six countries. The event served as a platform for participants to present ideas and innovations that contribute to sustainable development.

The achievement was earned by a Universitas Gadjah Mada delegation team consisting of Mukhlis Ibrahim from the Faculty of Agriculture, Tirta Pandu Winata from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), and Mutia Nurul Makhfirah from the Graduate School of UGM, who is a student of the Tourism Master Program.

Mutia Nurul Makhfirah, as a student of the Tourism Master’s Program, highlighted the innovation presented in the forum is closely related to the development of sustainable tourism villages and agro-tourism. The application of innovation in the agricultural sector is considered capable of improving the quality of local products consumed and marketed to tourists, and also strengthening the image of destinations that prioritize sustainability and food safety.

The Graduate School of UGM hopes that this achievement will inspire other students to continue developing research and innovations that provide tangible contributions to society and support sustainable development across various sectors.
