Yogyakarta, February 27th 2025 – The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpar) held a virtual discussion via Zoom Meeting to discuss the continuation of their educational collaboration in 2025.
This partnership has been established since 2016 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Gadjah Mada, with the first batch of students being sent in 2017. The program is part of a strategic effort to develop highly qualified human resources (HR) in the tourism sector.
During the discussion, Antonio, a representative from the Ministry of Tourism, reaffirmed the ministry’s strong commitment to continuing the scholarship program despite changes in leadership. “Even though leadership may change, we remain committed to ensuring this scholarship program continues to produce competent and high-quality tourism professionals,” he stated.
Beyond discussing strategies for the 2025 scholarship collaboration, the meeting also served as an opportunity to provide updates on the progress of scholarship recipients currently studying at SPs UGM. The Chief of the Tourism Master’s and Doctoral Program at SPs UGM emphasized the institution’s commitment to fully supporting students throughout their academic journey, ensuring they successfully complete their studies and contribute significantly to the national tourism sector.
This meeting is expected to encourage more Ministry of Tourism employees to pursue further education at SPs UGM, thereby strengthening human resource capacity in Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy sectors.
