The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) continues to drive achievements in publication targets. In 2024, SPs UGM has once again awarded Research Grants to faculty members under the theme “Transformation Towards a Sovereign Indonesia,” reflecting the institution’s dedication to contributing to national development through education and research. Research topics eligible for SPs research grants must also align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) prioritized by UGM, namely SDG 1, SDG 2, SDG 7, SDG 8, SDG 9, SDG 10, SDG 16, and SDG 17.
To ensure effective utilization of grant funds, SPs UGM conducted the first phase of Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) for the Research Grants on Thursday (September 5) in the Executive Meeting Room, 2nd Floor West Wing, Graduate School Building, UGM, and via Zoom meeting. This session is a follow-up to previous meetings held on August 15 and 30, 2024. The session is crucial to assess the effectiveness of fund utilization and provide feedback to faculty on their research progress. The second phase is scheduled to take place in October, allowing for a comprehensive review of the research projects funded by the grants.
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Junun Sartohadi, M.Sc., and Dr. Hilda Ismail, M.Si., Apt. served as reviewers for this session. Prof. Junun stated, “The quality of research is determined by the relevance of the issues addressed. Research grants are written by faculty, so the expectation is that they will have a broad impact and be published in reputable international journals or national journals indexed in Sinta 1 or Sinta 2.”
Dr. Hilda added that faculty members receiving grants should not only focus on the research but also complete the necessary administrative documentation. “Discipline in administration is crucial as a form of accountability for the grant funds received,” said Dr. Hilda. During the session, faculty members also had the opportunity to share their experiences and challenges encountered during their research.
As the monitoring and evaluation sessions continue, SPs UGM remains focused on achieving high-quality research outcomes. SPs UGM hopes that the results of these research grants will have a broad and global impact.
