The Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University (SPs UGM) has conducted the Phase II Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) for the 2024 research grant recipients on November 11th – 12th. This event was a continuation of the Phase I Monev held in August and September. It took place in the Leadership Meeting Room on the 2nd floor, West Wing, and the Corner Meeting Room on the 2nd floor, West Wing of the Graduate School Building, Unit 1. The grant recipients who were unable to attend in person, the Monev was conducted virtually through a Zoom meeting.
The Phase II Monev was divided into four sessions, with two reviewers in each session responsible for evaluating the progress of the research. During the Monev, grant recipients presented the outputs from the research funding they received. Three expected outputs were outlined: an international or national journal article, a three-minute thesis video, and a news article uploaded to the website.
On a different occasion, Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation at SPs UGM, stated, “After the Phase II Monev, the expectation is to have an evaluation of the 2024 research grant program for improvement and preparation for next year. We need to identify the challenges faced during this year’s research, the fund absorption rate, and whether the promised outputs in the contract can be realized,” said Dr. Widyanto.
The Phase II Monev also marks the conclusion of the 2024 research grant program. Grant recipients are expected to submit their final research grant reports along with the promised outputs outlined in the grant contract.
The Monev process is crucial to ensure accountability and transparency in the use of research funds. Researchers are also expected to reflect on their research work and consider improvements for future research activities. In conclusion, the Phase II Monev at SPs UGM is a significant step toward enhancing the quality of research and fostering a collaborative academic environment. The commitment for education for sustainability and global partnerships will undoubtedly pave the way for future success in research and development.
