On Friday (October 4th), the Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University (SPs UGM) held an audience with Enago concerning Enago’s AI Solution at the Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor of the UGM Graduate School Unit 1. The audience was attended by the Coordinator of the Research and Publication Unit, Dr. Hilda Ismail, M.Si., Apt; Expert Staff from the Community Service and Publication Unit, Prof. Nurdiana Gaus; Expert Staff from the Cooperation Unit, Dr. Leonard Chrysostomos Epafras; and SPs UGM Lecturers Ahmad Suparmin, Ph.D., and Dr. Priyaji Agung Pambudi, M.Si.
Enago was represented by Nicole Arya, Senior Manager of Strategic Alliances. During the meeting, Nicole presented Enago’s developed product, TRINKA, an AI-based writing assistant that aids comprehensive writing, from English grammar correction to enhancing tone and style, as well as checking a document’s readiness for publication.
“TRINKA can perform multiple checks on a document through a single application. These checks include advanced grammar checks, reference checks, contextual spelling checks, formal tone corrections in writing, sentence structure corrections, providing alternative technical vocabulary, and subject-specific corrections,” explained Nicole.
The discussion of both parties was interactive, marking a significant step towards the integration of technology in education for sustainability. The introduction of TRINKA promises to enhance quality and encourage innovation in academic writing.
Dr. Leonard noted that the Graduate School has a large and multidisciplinary student body, which leads to significant differences in students’ writing styles. He asked whether TRINKA could assist in assessing these differences and what metrics it would use. Nicole explained that TRINKA would display a percentage improvement score for the checked documents, with standards aligned to reputable international academic journals.
Meanwhile, Prof. Diana expressed interest in one of TRINKA’s features that can summarize an article without needing to read it in full. According to Prof. Diana, this functionality is particularly beneficial for students, as they typically prefer faster and more efficient processes.
At the end of the session, Dr. Hilda Ismail stated, “SPs UGM will discuss this offer with the Dean and disseminate the information and insights gained from the audience with Enago to the university level.”
