On Thursday (July 3rd), the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held a Quality Assurance Workshop focusing on the completeness of accreditation data, particularly related to Homebase and PDDIKTI (Higher Education Database). This initiative reflects SPs UGM’s ongoing commitment in improving education quality by ensuring that institutional data is accurate, complete, and synchronized with national systems.
The event brought together resources from the University’s Quality Assurance and Reputation Unit (SPMRU), the Directorate of Human Resources, and the Directorate of Education and Teaching. Participants included representatives from the programs, faculty members, and administrative staff, all of whom discussed the critical role of accurate accreditation data in supporting high-quality higher education.
Prof. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, Chief of SPMRU UGM, explained that program accreditation is no longer solely managed by BAN-PT, but is now overseen by independent accreditation bodies (LAM) specific to each discipline, each with its own set of criteria and procedures.
This shift presents unique challenges for SPs UGM, which oversees more than 20 graduate programs. These challenges are compounded by evolving regulations from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology—particularly the new issued Ministerial Regulation No. 44 of 2024 on the Profession, Career, and Remuneration of Lecturers, the implementation of which is currently under review and evaluation.
The rapidly changing landscape of higher education demands universities and their academic units remain agile and responsive to ensure the maintenance and to improve the quality of education. In line with this, SPs UGM is committed to strengthening collaboration and communication—both internally with study programs and across units within the university. These collaborative efforts are seen as essential in shaping a quality assurance system that is adaptive to change.
Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of SPs UGM, expressed her appreciation to the speakers and participants. SPs UGM emphasized the school’s gratitude for the collaboration and open communication that have been established so far, and expressed hope that these efforts will continue to grow stronger.
