The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) participated in the Community Service Festival (PKM Festival), organized with collaboration between the Directorate of Community Service (DPKM UGM), the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa), and UGM Alumni. The festival, attended by faculties, research centers, and student representatives from assisted villages, was held over three days from December 10th-12th 2024, at the Student Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) UGM. The aim of this event was to enhance public understanding and appreciation of UGM’s community service programs.
During the festival, SPs UGM showcased nineteen posters detailing community service activities carried out throughout 2023. These included community mentoring programs for disabled groups in Sedayu, Bantul, community empowerment in Cokrodiningratan Village in Yogyakarta City, and youth mentoring in the Code community as agents of change and peace. These PKM activities were funded with the SPs UGM Community Service Grants, demonstrating SPs UGM’s commitment to extending the impact of education and its benefits to society.
The Dean of the Graduate School of UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed her enthusiasm for SPs’ participation in this festival. “SPs UGM’s participation in this festival highlights our commitment in disseminating community service activities conducted by SPs UGM lecturers and academic members to colleagues at UGM and the wider community,” said Prof. Malkhamah.
The festival attracted attention from various groups, including students, lecturers, and members of the public. To further engage visitors, SPs UGM also held a short quiz with prizes for those who answered questions about the institution correctly. This interactive approach not only provided visitors with insights into SPs UGM but also fostered a sense of togetherness and partnership among attendees.
Furthermore, the festival served as a platform for SPs UGM to promote its programs to visitors. SPs UGM hopes to attract prospective students by showcasing various community service initiatives and academic offerings. Several visitors were facilitated with direct discussions regarding admission requirements for new students at SPs UGM.
