The 18th International Conference on Knowledge Management in Organisations (KMO) and The 12th International Conference on Learning Technology for Education Challenges (LTEC) were initiated by Prof. Lorna Uden from Staffordshire University, UK, and have been held for 20 years. KMO and LTEC are annual meetings that serve as forums for experts in the fields of knowledge management and learning technology to exchange ideas. In addition to showcasing participants’ research and ideas, the event is also attended by experts and practitioners in these fields.

The 2024 international conference is being held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with the National University of Kaohsiung as the host. The event lasts for 4 days, starting with a tutorial on Augmented Reality (AR) Apps Development Based on Unity and Vuforia by Prof. Ridwan Ata from Mugia Sitki Kooman University, Turkey, and Learning Advanced ChatGPT Prompts by Dr. Aravind Kumaresan from Vaasa University, Finland, held on July 29, 2024.

The international conference officially began on July 30, 2024, with an opening speech from Prof. Lorna Uden, followed by a keynote speech by Prof. Kenneth Huang from the National University of Singapore, presenting “Artificial Intelligence Technological Innovation and Firm Leadership.” In his presentation, Prof. Huang discussed the use of AI technology to create a model for company leadership in the event of a sudden vacancy due to the death of a leader or CEO. AI analysis of company data can serve as a reference for previous leadership and performance achievements, providing the company with guidance on effective leadership for future success.

Wahyu Supartono, Head of the Master of Higher Education Management Study Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (MMPT SPs UGM), attended the international conference by invitation from Prof. Gregory Ching, a partner from National Chengchi University, Taipei, who is also a Program Committee member of the conference. During the conference, several agreements were made between Wahyu Supartono and Prof. Ching regarding future joint activities between the two institutions, including the signing of cooperation agreements and other related activities.

The conference discussed several potential collaborations in higher education, particularly the use of AI technology in future teaching and learning processes. It is also possible for the MMPT Study Program at the Graduate School of UGM to join existing networks by actively participating in these networking activities in the future.
