Lombok – Students of the National Resilience Master Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), once again made a remarkable achievement at the national level. In the Forum Indonesia Muda (FIM), held on 30th – 31st August 2025 at Universitas Negeri Mataram, three students—Yusni Muhamad Ali, Muhammad Hilal Al-Islamy, and Muhammad Hanif Ramdhani—won five awards at once with their essay entitled “Local Food Security Strategy: an Analysis of the Implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.”
The UGM National Resilience graduate student team successfully secured awards in five categories: FIM Overall Champion, Best Paper, Favorite Food Poster, Gold Medal in Food, and Second Runner-Up Subtheme. This achievement reflects the students academic capacity and demonstrates their commitment to generating solution-oriented ideas for strengthening national food security.
According to Yusni Muhamad Ali, one of the team members, the achievement is tangible proof that ideas born in academic spaces serve as valuable references and contribute meaningfully to society. “We hope this essay can serve as an evaluation material to solve local food security issues in Indonesia and prepare for the dynamics of global food security instability. We started with a local scope in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and we are open to research collaborations or knowledge exchanges at the national level through the 2025 Forum Indonesia Muda,” he said.
The team, in their essay emphasized that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program still requires evaluation to ensure broader community acceptance. However, the good practices in Lombok demonstrate that open communication and service quality are key in maintaining public trust. This effort aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 2 Zero Hunger and Goal 4 Quality Education, which aim to ensure access to nutritious food while supporting the intelligence of future generations.
The success of Yusni, Hilal, and Hanif is in line with UGM’s vision as a people’s university committed to produce academic works with real social impact. The National Resilience Master Program of UGM hopes this accomplishment will inspire and motivate other students to continue creating, innovating, and dedicating their knowledge for the advancement of the nation.
