Community Service (PkM) is one of the pillars of the tridharma of higher education which must be implemented by the entire university academic community, especially Technology Study Interest for Sustainable Development Master Program at the Gadjah Mada University Postgraduate School (MTPB SPs UGM). PkM was implemented on July 24th 2024 in the Padukuhan Nayan, Kapanewon, Depok, Sleman, DIY area under the coordination of Muhammad Sulaiman, S.T., M.T., D.Eng. who also serves as Chief of MTPB Master Program.
The urgency of implementing this activity is to build the spirit of togetherness in the community with activities conducted at the village or sub-district level in various sub-districts or village. Padukuhan competition activities are rooted in the tradition of mutual cooperation and togetherness which has become an integral part of the culture of Indonesian society.
The Padukuhan Nayan competition was attended by all members of the community and there was also participation from MTPB students with their involvement as part of the PkM activities. The event started with the Golek Nayan Dance performed by local dancers and made the atmosphere even more festive. The graceful and dynamic dance movements represent the beauty and richness of Nayan culture.
“The padukuhan competition activity is very important as an opportunity to strengthen relations between residents and encourage development in each village,” said Pak Wawan, the Depok sub-district chief when giving a speech at the opening of the PkM event. Mrs. Isti Fajaroh, S.P., M.M.A., the coordinator of the physical/environmental assessment team, opened the event by introducing the assessment team from various fields such as health, education and the environment. The PkM activity was successfully attended by all Nayan residents including women from the Women’s Farmers Group (KWT) who also helped with preparations for the event.
The final results of the PkM activities based on the team’s evaluation are the environmental and green open space sector, the assessment team expressed appreciation for the efforts made by Padukuhan Nayan residents with cleanliness and environmental management that were very good. Furthermore, the security aspect is still a special concern with the revitalization of patrol posts and administration related to security activities to monitor all activities that occur in the Padukuhan Nayan area. Finally, regarding the health aspect of the house, the assessment team gave a positive assessment by stating that most of the houses in Padukuhan Nayan met the requirement of a healthy house.
