Yogyakarta, July 10th, 2024 – The Graduate School of Gadjah Mada University (SPs UGM) conducted monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities for the Kemenparekraf scholarship program for students enrolled in the Master’s and Doctoral Tourism Studies Programs at SPs UGM. This activity aims to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the scholarships provided to the employees of the Ministry of Tourism and ensure that the scholarships are used in accordance with their intended purposes.
The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation at SPs UGM, Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., and the Chief of the Master’s and Doctoral Tourism Studies Programs. Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., highlighted in his speech the importance of this program in supporting the development of competent and globally competitive human resources in the field of tourism. He also emphasized that monitoring and evaluation activities are an essential part of the scholarship program’s quality assurance and accountability process.
The Ministry of Tourism’s representative, Chief of the Human Resources Development Center for Tourism and Creative Economy, Andar Danova L. Goeltom, S.Sos., M.Sc., CPM (Asia), stated in his speech that this scholarship program is an effort by the Ministry of Tourism to support higher education in the field of tourism and to enhance the quality of research and innovation in the tourism sector.
During the monitoring and evaluation session, a panel discussion was conducted to discuss challenges and opportunities in education. This discussion resulted in several strategic recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the scholarship program and academic development in the Master’s and Doctoral Tourism Studies Programs at SPs UGM.
With the implementation of this monitoring and evaluation activity, it is hoped that the Ministry of Tourism’s scholarship program will continue to run well and contribute positively to the development of the tourism sector in Indonesia. All parties involved hope that this program will produce outstanding graduates capable of actively advancing Indonesian tourism.
