Yogyakarta, June 19th 2025 – In an effort to strengthen the direction of academic development that is relevant to the dynamics of the tourism industry and national higher education policies, the Tourism Master Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a Curriculum Workshop at the Cendrawasih Meeting Room, Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta.
This workshop was attended by lecturers, academic experts, and education managers from various scientific backgrounds, both from within UGM and outside the institution. Some of the lecturers who attended are Prof. Drs. Heddy Shri Ahimsa-Putra, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., Prof. Dr.-Phil. Janianton Damanik, M.Si., Dr. Ir. Djoko Wijono, M.Arch, and Prof. Dr. Tri Kuntoro Priyambodo, M.Sc.. Their participation emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach in designing the Tourism Master Program curriculum.
The event began at 08.00 WIB with a morning coffee session that provided an informal space to share initial ideas between participants. Furthermore, the activity was officially opened by the Chief of the Tourism Master Program, Dr. rer. pol. Dyah Widiyastuti, S.T., M.CP., who also led the overall discussion in the workshop sessions.
In the morning session, participants were invited to review the structure and content of the 2023 MKP Curriculum as an evaluative basis for the preparation of the next curriculum. This review included the content of courses and the distribution of credits, but also consideration on the suitability of the curriculum with graduate learning outcomes (CPL), graduate profiles, and labor market needs in the tourism and culture sector. One of the main agendas is the preparation of the 2025 Tourism Master Program Curriculum which is adjusted to the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 53 of 2023 concerning Quality Assurance of Higher Education.
Entering the afternoon session, the discussion continued on the preparation of the 2025 Curriculum implementation, including implementation strategies at the lecturer level, program management, and the development of a learning ecosystem that supports interactive, cross-field, and research-based learning. This session highlighted the importance of collaboration between study program managers, teaching staff, and external stakeholders such as industry and local government.
The activity ended with a conclusion and closing session at 17.00 WIB. The results of the workshop discussion will be summarized in an official document as a basis for curriculum improvement and submission to the faculty and university levels.
The UGM Tourism Master Program, with this event, shows its commitment to continue to innovate in curriculum development that is adaptive, relevant, and based on academic values and the real needs of society and industry. The 2025 curriculum is expected to produce graduates with superior theories, and ready to actively contribute to the development of a sustainable tourism sector at the local, national and global levels.
