International Collaboration of SPs UGM and UoE: Embracing Educational and Research Partnerships

Yogyakarta, June 26th, 2024 – The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) welcomed a delegation from the University of Exeter (UoE) in an enthusiastic inaugural meeting. The meeting was attended by Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho representing SPs UGM, while UoE was represented by Prof. Stu Bearhop.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho expressed his hopes that this meeting would serve as a starting point for establishing closer cooperation between the two institutions. Prof. Stu Bearhop from UoE shared similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in advancing education and research.

During the meeting, both parties presented the profiles of their respective institutions, highlighting their strengths and potential. The discussion was highly interactive, with various possibilities for future cooperation being explored. One area that received special attention was the Bioethics Program. Several ethics-related courses at both universities were identified as having potential for collaboration.

Other forms of cooperation also discussed included research collaborations, joint courses, and student and faculty exchanges. The discussion underscored the numerous opportunities available to strengthen the relationship between SPs UGM and UoE and enhance the quality of education and research at both institutions.

The meeting concluded with a photo session and the exchange of souvenirs as mementos. The participants considered the meeting was very engaging and held significant potential for being followed up with tangible collaborations in the future.
