The Community Service Activity (PkM) titled “Maintaining Harmonious Relations of Residents and the Environment with Inorganic Waste Sorting in Jerukleueut Village, Sindangwangi Sub-district, Majalengka Regency” were conducted by Sri Rum Giyarsih, Mutia Malika Afifa, and Lina Agustina Pujiwati in 2025. This PkM activity aligns with SDG 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Harmonizing the relationship of residents and the environment is essential in the pursuit of sustainable development goals. This relationship is inseparable from the connection of people and development. Development is carried out with the goal of fulfilling the needs of the population. In doing so, waste management becomes an inevitable issue. Today, waste has become a critical problem requiring proper handling.

The purpose of this activity is increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining harmonious relations of residents and the environment, particularly with sorting inorganic waste. It is hoped that public awareness will grow, by improving knowledge in this area, encouraging greater participation in maintaining this harmony through waste sorting activities. Consequently, the community will actively contribute in achieving sustainable development.

This community service was conducted in Majalengka Regency, which serves as a partner of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in research and community engagement programs. The method used in this activity was counseling delivered by a resource person, with participants consisting of heads of households in Jerukleueut Village, Sindangwangi Sub-district, Majalengka Regency. The session also included a question-and-answer segment and interactive discussions of the resource person and the participants.
