On Thursday, August 1st 2024, the Tourism Master Program (MKP Program) at the Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a Curriculum Workshop at Lafayette Boutique Hotel, Yogyakarta. The event was attended by the Chief of the MKP Program, teaching faculty, and administrative staff of the MKP Program. The workshop aimed to enhance the educational framework of the MKP Program to better align with advances in knowledge and technology.
The workshop began with an evaluation of the implementation of the MKP Program Curriculum during the Odd and Even Semesters of the 2023/2024 Academic Year. In her opening speech, Dr. rer.pol. Dyah Widyastuti, S.T., M.C.P., Chief of the MKP Program, emphasized the importance of adjusting the curriculum to meet the evolving demands of the tourism industry and the need for sustainable practices.
“Before the new academic year begins, there are needs to be an adjustment of the semester credit units (SKS) within the MKP Program curriculum in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Education and Culture Research Regulation Number 53 of 2023 on Higher Education Quality Assurance and the Gadjah Mada University Rector Regulation Number 23 of 2024 on Education,” Dr. Dyah stated.
The workshop is a strategic step towards achieving quality education in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moving forward, the MKP Program will enhance collaboration between academics and the tourism industry therefore industry needs can be integrated into the curriculum. “Updating the curriculum in the MKP Program is a step to ensure graduates of the Tourism Master Program have competencies that are relevant to the evolving tourism world and can contribute innovations to the industry,” added Dr. Dyah.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on preparations for the Odd Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Attendees included Prof. Drs. Heddy Shri Ahimsa-Putra, M.A. M.Phil., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. -Phil. Janianton Damanik, M.Si.; Dr. Ir. Djoko Wijono, M.Arch., M.Sc.; Dr. Yulia Arisnani Widyaningsih, MBA; and Siti Nurul Rofiqo Irwan, S.P., M.Agr.Ph.D.
