Extension and Development Communication Master Program (PKP) at the Graduate School (SPs) of UGM held a Guest Lecture on the topic “Optimizing Quantitative Data Collection with CTO Survey and Stata Data” on Monday, February 24th 2025.

The event, attended by approximately 20 PKP students, featured a speaker, Irene Furliani, a Ph.D. student from the University of Passau, Germany.

In general, Survey CTO is understood as a reliable, secure, and scalable mobile data collection application for researchers and professionals. Irene explained that Survey CTO is an efficient, reliable, and customizable data collection tool, while Stata is a powerful statistical software for data cleaning, analysis, and visualization.

According to Irene, Survey CTO has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include ease of teamwork, research replication, and widespread use, including across international organizations. On the other hand, the disadvantages are high costs and the need for users to have at least basic programming skills to use it fluently.

In this session, Irene also mentioned that this was just an introduction and many aspects were not covered because it was a basic course.

This event also aligns with the implementation of SDG number 4, which focuses on Quality Education, SDG number 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG number 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals.
