Graduation Ceremony for the Postgraduate Program Period IV of 2024: The Peak of Struggle and a New Beginning

Yogyakarta, July 24th, 2024 – The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) once again held a graduation ceremony for 4th of the Academic Year 2023/2024. This solemn event marked the culmination of the long struggle of students who have completed their studies in various master’s and doctoral programs. During this period, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., presented several interesting achievements, including:

  1. The fastest graduate in the Master’s Program (S2) with a study duration of 1 year, 5 months, and 16 days was achieved by Mongdong Gamaliel Giovanni from the Master of Leadership and Policy Innovation. The fastest graduate in the Doctoral Program (S3) with a study duration of 2 years, 7 months, and 12 days was achieved by Vincencia Septaviani Issera Sulistya Putri from the Doctor of Environmental Science.
  2. The ages of the graduates also varied, showing that students at SPs UGM includes various age groups. The youngest graduate in the Master’s Program (S2) was Frista Chairunnisa from the Master of Biotechnology, who completed her studies at the age of 22 years, 9 months, and 27 days. The youngest graduate in the Doctoral Program (S3) was Novrian Satria Perdana from the Doctor of Leadership and Policy Innovation, who completed his studies at the age of 37 years, 4 months, and 11 days. The spirit of study also did not diminish the enthusiasm of the other graduates.
  3. And the graduates also showed commendable academic achievements. This time, SPs UGM produced graduates in the Master’s Program (S2) with the following distinctions: Cumlaude: 44 graduates, Very Satisfactory: 28 graduates, and Satisfactory: 2 graduates. In the Doctoral Program (S3), there were 7 graduates with Cumlaude distinction, 8 graduates with Very Satisfactory distinction, and 2 graduates with Satisfactory distinction. The highest GPA in the master’s program was achieved by Dina Clarissa Kurniawan from the Master of Biotechnology with a GPA of 4.00. For the Doctoral Program (S3), the highest GPA of 4.00 was achieved by Hendri Susilo from the Doctor of National Resilience Studies.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., gave motivational words to the graduates, reminding them to continue striving and applying the knowledge they have gained during their studies to make a real contribution to society. He emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity, a high spirit of learning, and a sense of responsibility as UGM graduates.

Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Graduate School of UGM, also stated that this graduation not only marks the end of the students’ academic journey but also serves as a new beginning for the graduates to contribute more significantly to society. SPs UGM hopes that the graduates can continue to develop themselves and bring honor to their alma mater at the national and international levels. Congratulations to the graduates! May success accompany your steps in the future.
