
Kelurahan Cokrodiningratan, Kemantren Jetis, particularly Kampung Jetisharjo, has successfully made it to the finalists list of the Climate Program (Pro-Iklim) for Yogyakarta City in 2024, according to the announcement of the administrative verification results signed by the Chief of the Yogyakarta City Environmental Agency and the Pit PPTK, dated September 25th 2024. Along with 8 other finalists, Kampung Jetisharjo is entitled to proceed to the next stage, which is the field verification, held on October 2nd 2024.
Kampung Jetisharjo is a community service (PkM) development area from the Graduate School of UGM, which has been intensively assisted since 2023. As part of the Cokrodiningratan Tourism Village attraction, Kampung Jetisharjo highlights an eco-tourism cluster that offers River School and environmental sustainability.
“The Community Service Team (PkM) of the Graduate School of UGM has been assisting to encourage residents to engage in sustainable and profitable urban farming. Since 2023, assistance has been provided through training in vegetable, fruit, and klanceng bee cultivation,” said Ratih Ineke Wati, S.P., M.Agr., Ph.D. (Team Leader). This activity has encouraged residents to start greening their small yards. In 2024, the assistance focused on plant maintenance and the sustainability of potential plants owned by residents that had started to decline in productivity. Training in vegetative plant propagation and integrated pest management (IPM) that is environmentally friendly was conducted in September and received a warm response from the residents, continued Ratih.
The urban farming assistance activities from the Graduate School, which includes Alia Bihrajihant Raya, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., Dr. Erlina Ambarwati, S.P., M.P., Dr. Suputa, S.P., M.P., Dr. Ir. Roso Witjaksono, M.S., Prof. Dr. Ir. Krishna Agung Santosa, M.Sc., Ari Wibowo, Ishadiyanto Salim, Musa Frenkianus, Arwida Albarizki Widodo, and Winahyuning Cahyani, have also become part of the evaluation, contributing to Kampung Jetisharjo becoming a finalist in the Pro-Iklim Competition for Yogyakarta City 2024.
