The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) welcomed a benchmarking visit from the Graduate School of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) on Thursday, March 13th 2025. This visit aimed to exchange experiences in managing master and doctoral programs and discuss strategies to enhance the quality of postgraduate education.

The Director of the Graduate School of UMS, Prof. M. Farid Wajdi, Ph.D., attended the meeting along with the Vice Director, Chief of Study Programs, and academic and administrative staff. The discussion covered various topics, including academic management, student governance, accreditation systems, and innovations in postgraduate program implementation.

Dean of SPs UGM, Prof. Dr. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., along with the Vice Dean and academic team, warmly welcomed the visit. In her remarks, Prof. Malkhamah emphasized the importance of synergy between universities in improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia. “We are very open to sharing experiences related to postgraduate program management. We hope this discussion will benefit both institutions in developing highly qualified and globally competitive human resources,” she stated.

Beyond academic discussions, the visit included a session on best practices in student management, research quality improvement, and internationalization strategies for postgraduate programs. The SPs UGM team also presented various collaboration schemes with domestic and international partners to expand academic and research networks.

This visit is expected to strengthen academic relations of these two institutions and open up further collaboration opportunities in academics, research, and community engagement. Such collaborations are hoped to enhance the quality of postgraduate education in Indonesia, contributing significantly to scientific advancement and societal development.
