Yogyakarta, 28th January 2026 — The Badminton Association (PB) of the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) held a retirement farewell event for Sri Suharjo in a warm and family-like atmosphere. The event served as an expression of appreciation for his dedication, togetherness, and contributions during his time as part of the SPs UGM academic community, particularly on badminton activities.
The farewell event was conducted in a simple yet meaningful manner. Attended by members of PB SPs UGM, the gathering also functioned as a forum for strengthening bonds and fostering camaraderie among members of the academic community. On this occasion, PB SPs UGM presented a commemorative gift to Sri Suharjo as a symbol of appreciation and gratitude for his years of service.
The commemorative gift was presented directly by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of SPs UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. It symbolized the transition from active service to retirement, while also affirming that the sense of togetherness built over the years will remain a lasting shared memory.
Joko Waluyo, representing PB SPs UGM, stated that Sri Suharjo’s presence had contributed to sports activities and also fostered a spirit of togetherness, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of family. Through badminton activities, warm and inclusive interactions were cultivated, making sport a means of maintaining health while strengthening social relationships within the SPs UGM environment.
This farewell moment serves as a reminder that the sports court is not merely a place for physical activity, but also a space where values of togetherness and lasting memories are formed. The PB SPs UGM community extends its prayers and best wishes to Sri Suharjo for continued health, happiness, and fulfillment as he embarks on his retirement with his family and community. The bonds that have been formed are hoped to endure, even as he enters a new chapter in his life’s journey.
