Yogyakarta, February 28th 2026 – The Technology for Sustainable Development Master Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada conducted a field visit to Bengkel Sapi Kalijeruk, located in Widodomartani, Ngemplak, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This activity was part of the field practice component of the Community Empowerment course.
Students of the MTPB program in the Even Semester of 2026 participated in this visit to strengthen their understanding of community empowerment practices based on innovation and applied technology. The event began with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng. on the concept of “Integrated Farming: Caring for the Earth, Producing Thoyib Food for Healthy and Intelligent Generations.”
Prof. Ali Agus, in his presentation, emphasized that the challenges of food security in the 21st century cannot be addressed with sectoral and partial approaches. Agricultural and livestock systems must be developed in an integrated manner, based on local resources, appropriate technology, and grounded in values of sustainability and social benefit.
Several key aspects became the main focus and attraction during this observation activity, including the cattle workshop unit which requires reconditioning and improvement of livestock quality, the development of GAMA cattle (Gagah Macho), the production of burger sauce for feed, and the Telur Ayam Bahagia (TAB) unit.
The field visit to the units within the Andini Bawono Lestari Foundation area, founded by Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng., provided a comprehensive overview of the implementation of an integrated farming system developed systematically from upstream to downstream. The observation of livestock nutrition engineering units, genetic resource development, fermented feed technology innovations, animal welfare–based production systems, as well as waste management and renewable energy systems provided students with insights into the integration of applied research and field practices.
