Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, and UGM Postgraduate School Strengthen Collaboration in the Preparation of Joint SAR ASIIN

Yogyakarta, March 6th 2025 – Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, and Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again held a coordination meeting for the preparation of Joint Self-Assessment Report (SAR) for ASIIN accreditation. This event is the fourth meeting aimed at aligning the preparation of SAR documents from various study programs involved in the Joint SAR ASIIN scheme.

This activity took place in the 5th Floor Auditorium of UGM Postgraduate School, which hosted this meeting. The event was attended by various parties involved in the accreditation process, including dr. Widya Wasityastuti, M.Sc., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D. as the Coordinator of International Quality Assurance as a representative of SPMRU, chief of related study programs, several lecturers, and heads and staff of Quality Assurance Units from the three participating faculties.

The study programs participating in the preparation of the Joint SAR ASIIN including Biology Doctoral Programs from the Faculty of Biology; Biomedical Engineering Masters Programs, Environmental Science Doctoral Programs, and Biotechnology Doctoral Programs from the Graduate School; and also Food and Agricultural Technology Bachelor Programs and Food Technology  Masters Programs from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology.

The meeting began with remarks from Prof. Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. as the Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation. He emphasized the importance of synergy between study programs in preparing comprehensive SAR documents that are in accordance with ASIIN standards. The next remarks were delivered by dr. Widya Wasityastuti, M.Sc., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., who highlighted the technical and strategic aspects in preparing SAR to meet the established international standards.

The event continued, after the welcoming session, with a group discussion led by Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas, M.Sc., Chief of the Biotechnology Doctoral Program. This discussion was on the alignment of each criterion in the SAR that has been prepared by each study program team. Each group discusses specific aspects of their SAR, identifies their challenges, and seeks solutions that can be implemented so that the resulting document is more solid and meets ASIIN accreditation standards. It is hoped with this ongoing coordination, that the ASIIN accreditation process for the study programs involved can run smoothly and produce optimal results. The synergy between the Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, and the Postgraduate School in preparing the Joint SAR ASIIN is a strategic step in improving UGM’s academic quality and international reputation.
