The entire family of the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) gathered and cheered together to enliven the opening of the 41st anniversary celebration of SPs UGM today, Friday 26th July 2024. Lecturers, staff, students, partners, and invited guests from various faculties attended to celebrate this event. Besides the official opening, one of the main highlights of the event was undoubtedly the door prize distribution and various entertainments.
More than 50 door prizes were distributed to the attending guests. The prizes presented by SPs UGM varied widely, ranging from cooking utensils, staple foods, fans and gas stoves. The participants who received prizes cheered joyfully when their numbers were called and quickly headed to the stage to collect their prizes. Prizes were also given to the attendees who contributed their voices, performing songs to enliven the event.
The event became even more lively with a special performance by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Collaboration, SPs UGM, Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr.Sc., who sang various songs.
“Kowe siji sijine, aku bangga karo kowe, gelem nompo opo anane, tresnaku ra bakal mletre.. Kowe ojo sumelang, tresna ku ra bakal ilang, ibarat koyo kuto ku Jogja, SPs cen istimewa!!” cheered Widy enthusiastically, met with roaring applause from the audience.
The song “Koyo Jogja Istimewa” popularized by Ndarboy Genk is undoubtedly a “must” song at every UGM event. Its lyrics, rich in Javanese cultures, combined with a catchy melody, boosted the audience’s spirits to dance.
This event was held not only to kick off the series of the 41st Anniversary celebrations of SPs but also to provide entertainment for the entire SPs UGM community. By holding this event, the invited guests could take a break from their work and study routines, thereby reducing stress and improving work-life balance.
The opening of this anniversary celebration ended with songs and loud applause from the audience. Although brief, the event was enjoyable. SPs hopes that the spirit of collaboration and cooperation will increase with various entertainments that strengthen family bonds. Of course, SPs also hopes that the entire series of events for the 41st Anniversary of SPs UGM will run smoothly and become even more festive.
