The Master of Environmental Science Study Program again carried out field practice for students as one of the field lecture activities for the “Soil and Environment” course. This activity took place on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 in Margoyoso Village, Salaman, Magelang.
This field practice activity was coordinated by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Junun Sartohadi, M.Sc., and Dr. Muhammad Anggri Setiawan, S.Si., M.Si. The aim was to emphasize the importance of direct experience in understanding the complexity of ecosystems and the role of soil in environmental conservation.
Students were involved in activities such as soil sampling, topographic mapping, and ecosystem analysis during the field practice. Students were given the opportunity to directly assess soil health and its impact on local biodiversity.
Margoyoso Village is known for its rich agricultural landscape, making it an ideal location for educational activities. Students learn about sustainable agricultural practices that helping preserve local ecosystems by ensuring food security for the community. This is in line with the principles of SDGs for sustainable agriculture and responsible consumption.
The field practice activity was closed with a reflection session. Students shared experiences and insights and discussed the importance of preserving environmental ecosystems based on the importance of connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The coordinating lecturer always encouraged students to continue exploring their knowledge, especially in the field of soil and environmental studies.
