The Performing Arts and Visual Arts Master Program (Prodi PSPSR) of the Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPs UGM) has agreed to a collaboration with the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang (FS UNM). The signing of the agreement took place on Friday, August 9th, 2024, in the Meeting Room A, 5th Floor, SPs UGM Building. Prodi PSPSR was represented by the Chief of the PSPSR Master Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, S.Ant., M.Hum, while the Department of Art and Design FS UNM was represented by Dr. Wida Rahyuningtyas, S.Pd., M.Pd., the Chief of the Department.

PSPSR Master Program and the Department of Art and Design FS UNM share the same mission in delivering education, learning, and art research by optimizing the use of technology. This mutual understanding of missions made the discussions during the meeting highly interactive. “We welcome you to PSPSR Master Program UGM; today’s event is a casual one, open for us all to share experiences,” said Dr. Paramitha.

Prodi PSPSR and FS UNM took turns sharing the history of their respective study programs, their visions and missions, curricula and ongoing learning processes, as well as graduate profiles. “Thank you for the warm welcome and for taking the time to share with us. Hopefully, we can organize joint activities like teaching exchanges in the future,” said Dr. Wida. During the discussion session, several UNM delegates expressed their interest in pursuing further doctoral studies in PSPSR.

This collaboration can strengthen the educational framework, particularly in the field of fine arts, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that emphasize quality education and cultural preservation. Both institutions recognize the importance of promoting creativity and innovation in the arts, which is crucial for cultural development and global partnerships.

The UNM delegation at this meeting consisted of 30 lecturers from three study programs: the Dance and Music Education Study Program, the Fine Arts Education Study Program, and the Visual Communication Design Study Program. Also present from Prodi PSPSR were the Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Master’s Program, Dr. G.R. Lono Lastoro Simatupang, M.A.; Academic and Financial Staff, Ike Niken Salindri, M.A., and Quality Assurance Staff, Agustinus Paulus Umbi Tali, M.A.
