Encouraging Internationalization, UGM Graduate School and University of Birmingham Establish Initial Communication for Collaboration

The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) within the Environmental Science Doctoral Program, , in an effort to expand collaboration, particularly in the fields of education and research, is exploring potential partnerships with the University of Birmingham. A meeting between both parties took place on August 6th 2025, at the UGM Graduate School.

Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., as the Dean of the Graduate School, along with Prof. Dr. Drs. Eko Haryono, M.Si. and Dr. Priyaji Agung Pambudi, S.Pd., M.Si., representing the , in an effort to expand collaboration, particularly in the fields of education and research,  attended the meeting.

During the discussion, Prof. Gregor Leckebusch and Ahmad, delegates from the University of Birmingham, shared ideas for a structured collaboration plan. The proposed areas of cooperation include: visiting lectures, summer courses, research collaboration, double degree programs, sandwich programs, and joint supervision.

All proposed collaboration schemes are currently in the exploratory stage. Both parties have agreed to proceed with drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will outline the implementation mechanisms, requirements, and procedures for the collaboration.
