Eman Sukmana, a 6th semester student from Samarinda State Polytechnic who is currently studying in the Doctoral Program in Tourism Studies, attended the Scientific Paper Writing Workshop held on Wednesday-Thursday, March 19th – 20th 2025. This workshop aimed to improve students’ understanding in writing and publishing scientific articles in reputable journals.
According to Eman, this activity provides very positive benefits, especially for novice writers. “This workshop is extraordinary and really helps us in understanding how to find journals that are in accordance with the field of study, following the journal’s environmental style, as well as the process of uploading and submitting articles to scientific journals,” he said. He added that this workshop also provides strong provisions for students who want to become researchers after completing their studies.
Eman hopes that this workshop can continue and be upgraded to a routine program every semester. The cooperation of the Tourism Study Center, S2 and S3 Tourism Studies students of SPs UGM has created a place to learn and develop their academic skills. He also emphasized the importance of similar activities for students who are in the early stages of their studies so that they can understand the steps of writing scientific journals more systematically.
Thus, this workshop is expected to strengthen students’ competence in writing and publishing quality scientific works that have an impact on the development of tourism science.
