Friday (28/6), the Master of Higher Education Management Study Program, Graduate School, Gadjah Mada University (MMPT SPs UGM) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Education Funding in Higher Education.” The aim of this event is to provide an overview of the structure of higher education funding and to provide recommendations for stakeholders to allocate educational funds accurately according to the needs of the higher education process, thereby producing graduates with superior competencies.

This FGD aims to discuss crucial issues related to the increasing cost of higher education in Indonesia, which hampers funding access for many students. The event featured speakers from various fields at UGM, including Prof. Dr. Supriyadi, M.Sc. (Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance), Prof. Dr. Ir. Nizam (Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2020-2023 period), Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Dean of the Graduate School of UGM), Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari (Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM), Prof. dr. Rr. Titi Savitri Prihatiningsih (Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM), and the Head of the MMPT Study Program, Dr. Ir. R. Wahyu Supartono, who served as the moderator leading the discussion.

The FGD participants consisted of structural officials and lecturers within the Gadjah Mada University environment. The participants are expected to actively contribute to the discussion to achieve the best solutions.

This event is expected to produce concrete recommendations in improving the higher education funding system, supporting the planning and evaluation of quality educational administration, and ensuring that every student has equal opportunities to develop. With the implementation of this FGD, it is hoped that UGM can continue to contribute to improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
