A joint lecturer event organized by the Environmental Science Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Geological Engineering Department of the UGM Faculty of Engineering and Guilin University of Technology (GUT), China, was held on June 23rd 2025. Taking place at the Siti Nurbaya Center Room, KLMB Building, Faculty of Geography UGM, this workshop served as a platform for discussion, particularly on plate convergence, in line with the main theme, “Plate Convergence and Its Resource-Environmental Effects.”

The workshop featured a distinguished speaker from GUT, Prof. Xijun Liu, who delivered a presentation titled “Origin of the DUPAL anomaly in the Tethyan mantle domain and its geodynamic significance.” The event continued with a scientific presentation from another GUT representative, Prof. Chong-Jin Pang. Two GUT students, Seipei Wu and Hao Tian, also contributed by sharing their insights. Following this, Dr. rer. nat. Ir. Arifudin Idrus, ST., MT., IPU, from UGM presented his material as the UGM representative.

The workshop concluded with a discussion session between students and speakers, providing an open space for participants to express their ideas, questions, and share perspectives on the significant topics presented. This event served as a valuable avenue for both students and lecturers to exchange knowledge and ideas, particularly regarding the impacts of plate convergence on resources and the environment in Indonesia and China.
