Yogyakarta, January 22nd 2025 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a coordination activity for the preparation of the Joint SAR (Self Assessment Report) ASIIN for the “Life and Food Science Cluster”. The event, which took place at the Auditorium of the UGM Graduate School, was attended by study programs from three faculties, namely the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, the Faculty of Biology, and the Graduate School. This activity aims to prepare the SAR which is a requirement for submitting international accreditation from the ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics).

The study programs involved in this activity include the S1 Food and Agricultural Product Technology and the S2 Food Technology Science from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, the S2 Biomedical Engineering, the S3 Biotechnology, and the S3 Environmental Science from the Graduate School, and the S3 Biology from the Faculty of Biology.

The series of events began with participant registration at 08.00 WIB, followed by the opening by the MC. The Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of the Postgraduate School gave a speech and introduction regarding the importance of international accreditation to improve the competitiveness of study programs at the global level. Furthermore, an introduction of team members from each study program involved was carried out.

In the presentation session, Dr. Zuliyati Rohmah, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Eng., Chief of UJM Faculty of Biology, delivered technical guidelines regarding the SAR document preparation process and the importance of synchronization between study programs. The next event began with the division of teams based on the criteria determined in the preparation of the form guided by Dr. Tri Rini Nuringtyas, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the Biotechnology Doctoral Study Program. The event participants then continued the coordination discussion on each team’s criteria to align and create a strategy for compiling the joint SAR.

At the end of the activity, Mrs. Zuliyati guided the discussion on the plan for the next routine meeting agenda to accelerate and coordinate the joint SAR preparation process. This step reflects UGM’s commitment to ensuring that all study programs involved can meet ASIIN international accreditation standards. UGM hopes to improve its academic reputation while expanding opportunities for cooperation with various educational institutions and industries at the global level with this accreditation. It is hoped that this coordination agenda, will encourage solid cooperation between study programs and bring optimal results in an effort to obtain ASIIN accreditation.
